Portsmouth, R.I. September 15, 2010 – Thomas Roskelly, Creative Director for Roskelly Inc., recently received awards for twelve of his logos in 2010’s American Graphic Design Awards competition.
Roskelly has won hundreds of awards over the years, including 91 from the national American Graphic Design Awards competition hosted annually by Graphic Design USA magazine. The winning logos this year, however, represent a greater geographical base of clients than ever before. Not only do they feature businesses based in New England and the greater Northeast; the winners also include logos for companies headquartered in Canada, Mexico, and two in the European Country of Slovenia. This trend is indicative of how Roskelly’s reputation for creating exceptional designs is expanding and crossing international borders, where foreign companies are contacting the firm and asking for rebranding services.
Another quality distinguishing Roskelly’s work is the diversity in types of companies it represents: from non-profits to Fortune 500 companies, landscape designers to internet consultants, Travel and Tourism to Commerical Roofing companies. "It’s wonderful that we’re being recognized for work we’ve done in Slovenia, but we’re also winning awards for work that spans across a multitude of industries,” says Karen Roskelly, President of Roskelly Inc. “So many designers tend to specialize in one or two markets; Roskelly Inc. works with all of them.
“We’re continuing to be recognized year over year,” she adds, “and that is an honor in a competition where we’re being judged by our peers and other creative professionals.”
The twelve American Graphic Design Awards winners represent a broad spectrum of clients in a range of industries and locations. They are:
• Discovery House - Providence, Rhode Island
• Ecotope - Providence, Rhode Island
• Fish Market - Koper, Slovenia
• Fisheries Research Institute - Bled, Slovenia
• Ishi Dojo Girl - Providence, Rhode Island
• Jim Rusher Spey School - Roitherville, Quebec, Canada
• John Flanders Internet – Portsmouth, Rhode Island
• Kids are the Key - Oaxaca, Mexico
• Life Changers - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
• The Pink Rainbow - Providence, Rhode Island
• Renovating Hope - West Chester, Pennsylvania
• The Smile Initiative - Middletown, Rhode Island
Roskelly Inc. is able to successfully design for companies from so many different backgrounds due to a core philosophy: “When you’re creating a new brand, it doesn’t matter if the company is large or small,” says Thomas Roskelly. “In each case, the important thing is for the clients to have a sense of ownership over the final design; they need to believe in it and feel that it truly represents who they are and the image they want to present to the world. Not only that – the brand needs to be memorable, and it needs to generate results for each and every client regardless of industry, company size, or location.”
Graphic Design USA has held the competition for nearly five decades to “spotlight areas of excellence and opportunity for creative professionals” across the nation. The contest welcomes submissions across a variety of mediums from graphic design firms, advertising industries, publishers, corporations, institutions, and others. This year’s competition received over 8,000 entries, and less than 15 percent of them were recognized with Awards of Excellence.
Graphic Design USA, the monthly business-to-business magazine for professional graphic designers and related creative and production professionals, honors new and outstanding graphic design as well as advertising art and marketing communications created by American graphic designers and art directors.
